Choices

The difficult question of where E will go to secondary school has started to raise its head, and we went to look at one possible school this morning - much less academic than J's school, smaller and friendlier but maybe not challenging enough to stop her being bored. It's so hard to know what to do: J really isn't enjoying school much at present, but then she never has, and being 13 is very tough whatever school you are at, particularly if you are the maverick free-thinking type, like J. Maybe it would suit E better: it's so hard to know. We met lots of other parents we know, trudging round trying to make the same decisions: it's very tricky.
After lunch, E went off to a party for a long time, and J and I had a soothing walk with S, who was wearing a hairslide because her topknot is now so long it's getting in her eyes, but not yet long enough for a proper band to stay in. She did look very cute, in a chocolate box sort of way, and got lots of fond smiles from various people. She's lost her first milk canine tooth, hooray!
A gentle evening, bathing J's finger (still icky) and mine (where I have a paper cut or split place that's got very sore) and enjoying the TV not being on, because J's gone down to the boat. Bath soon, I think.
