Finger misery

Another eventful weekend; work yesterday morning, came home and started making lunch, and - due entirely to my own carelessness - sliced a serrated cheese knife straight through some unpasteurised Cheshire and into my finger - right into the nail and the side of the pad. It hurt more than anything has ever hurt since childbirth. J kindly took me to the local minor injuries clinic, where it got cleaned up (ouch!) and professionally dressed with steristrips and an iodine dressing. I think it's doing quite well - it only hurts when I touch the area of the scar itself - but it's a real chore keeping it dry - not being able to wash up with two hands, etc. Anyway, time will tell.
Meanwhile, today, E very competently made a gluten free cake for Mother's Day, and burnt her thumb quite badly on the oven, after having earlier banged her head on a climbing frame in the playground. So it's been a bit of an accident prone weekend.
J's best friend was with us again last night for a sleepover; today, I saw Dad in the morning, and then went and got Mum; we had smoked salmon with scrambled eggs for lunch, and then did a couple of local geocaches, in the face of much moaning from one of the party - however yet again found a lovely walk not too far from home, including a view of John Donne's summerhouse. Then back for tea - J's parents came over for it - and now Sunday evening round up prior to school tomorrow.
